DevPoll: Your Best and Worst Tools

In issue v1.2 of our BuildBetter eMag, we chatted with some of our favorite developers about their favorite tools. We found out that Richard Campbell of .NET Rocks! loves WebPageTest.org, and the head of the LinkedIn .NET User Group—Brian Madsen—loves CodeIt.Right.

Of course we got a lot of great insights (and you should totally download the eMag and check it out!), but we wanted to pool a larger sample of developers to see what we would find.

We wanted to know:

  1. What is your most beloved dev tool (software-based)?
  2. What is your most hated dev tool (software-based)?
  3. What is your favorite, most crucial, non-software dev tool?

We posted the poll online in several places over the course of about six week. The average age of respondents was twenty-one (the youngest was twelve and oldest was thirty-eight).
